Federal Tax Policies In Focus
In January 2001, the federal government had a surplus of $5.6 trillion; projections for March 2005 show a deficit of $3.7 trillion. 48% of the 2005 deficit can be attributed to federal tax cuts. Of the other 52%, 37% is spending on defense and homeland security, 8% on entitlements (such as medicare), and 7% on other discretionary spending.
School Finance in Focus: The "Taxpayers' Bill of Rights." (TABOR)
TABOR stands for "taxpayers' bill of rights." first enacted in colorado 1992, tabor represents the most restrictive tax and expenditure limitation country.
