Administrators, KNEA "PICK" new collaboration tools, processes

Members of the Kansas Association of School Administrators and the KNEA are working to create an agency to promote collaboration between employers and employees.

Tentatively called the Partnership in Collaboration Kansas (PICK), the new organization will provide resources and facilitators to deal with conflict within the public school system.

Skills, attributes and requirements for success at bargain table is changing, said KNEA Negotiations and Research Director Wade Anderson. Problem solvers, conflict resolution techniques and an interest based approach lead to more success at the bargaining table.

Organizers recently clarified goals around creating the neutral agency which will provide facilitation services, resources and education around collaborative conflict resolution processes. Part of the plan is to create a cadre of facilitator teams that will include one administrator and one KNEA representative.
