KNEA Members Win NASCAR Tickets

Membership pays - now more than ever!

Jean Stutzman, Olathe NEA, and Jim Mullen, Hays NEA (retired) have each won a pair of tickets to the October NASCAR races at the Kansas Speedway.

"It's a great perk for members and a nice thing for KNEA to do," said Jim Mullen.

Their names were drawn from the 10,000 KNEA members who registered on the KNEA Membership Access site. The KNEA Membership Access card is a new benefit for members only.

KNEA members went to the July 4th races at the Kansas Speedway, too, thanks to KNEA. Michele Trompeter, Lawrence, took her husband. "I probably would never go otherwise," she said. "My husband and was ecstatic because he got autographs from several drivers."

Other winners included Julie Gordon, Marysville, Sawana Shipley, Hutchinson, and Mary Myer, Kansas City, Kansas. Their advice for future winners: bring earplugs!

It looks like a credit card but it saves you big bucks. Tonya Henning, United Teachers of Wichita, is among a small group of members to pilot the KNEA Membership Access Card. She saved over $500 between December and July on video and car rentals, pizza, dry cleaning, hotel stays and gifts.

"If there's a merchant you frequent often, download and print several coupons so you don't have to go back to your computer every time you out," she advises. "Of course, the more you use the card, the more the merchant will recognize the card and you won't have to use coupons. And, the more you use the card on every day items…the more I saved!"

The KNEA Membership Access directory features 70,000 locations nationwide, everything from golf courses and restaurants to hotels and ski resorts.
