Kansas Republican Representative Jerry Moran (CD-1) joins the list of members of congress trying to make sense of No Child Left Behind.

Recently Moran introduced HR 2166, the Practicality in Education Act as part of the reauthorization of the federal education law. Moran's bill would alter a number of the more onerous provisions of NCLB. HR 2166 includes many NEA-supported revisions such as the use of growth models for  measuring student achievement, relief for special education students and English language learners, and counting a student only once for accountability purposes.

NEA enthusiastically supports Rep. Moran's bill, which has Kansas Democratic Representatives Dennis Moore (CD-3) and Nancy Boyda (CD-2) as co-sponsors.

Rep. Moran has written a letter to KNEA members explaining his positions and the details of HR 2166. Click here to read his letter to you.
