Labeling is not productive:
NEA Dropout Prevention Plan

“All students can learn,” said KNEA President Blake West.  “Labeling is not productive.”

In light of a recent report criticizing some Kansas schools for graduation rates, West noted that all schools in Kansas are working to act early so students graduate.

Researchers note students leave a school for many reasons. KNEA, through supports work to help every student graduate. West noted the National Education Association has developed 12 action steps to address the nation's school dropout crisis. While there are many ways to address this problem, NEA has chosen steps that are the most promising based on a wide range of experience and data.

See NEA’s 12-point Dropout Prevention Plan.

“Providing great public schools for every child is the shared responsibility for school staff as well as parents, families, communities, businesses, and government at the national, state, and local levels,” West said.
