Living history

Make history come alive with this interesting project.

Together, write letters or send e-mail to relatives and friends. Or, post a sign at a senior citizen center asking for pen pals. You might ask questions like these:

• Where were you born?
• What were your favorite activities when you were 12?
• What happened in the world when you were my age?
• Do you remember the moon landing?
• Were you alive during a war? What was it like?

Your family will enjoy reading the letters. And your kids will discover that "history" happened to people they know. (Hint: Remind your children to send thank-you notes.)
